The padded construction specifically cushions the tapa (front plate), which is the most acoustically sensitive and most easily scratched surface of any cajon. And the corners, which bear the most impact stress during everyday travel between rehearsals, gigs, and classes.

Regular bags and backpacks are not dimensioned for a cajon's specific proportions and do not protect the tapa and corners where damage actually occurs. A standard bag applies pressure at unpredictable points, allows internal movement that causes abrasion, and provides no meaningful padding for the front plate. The combination makes it practical for short distances (hand-carry from car to venue) and longer commutes (shoulder strap on public transport or walking).
