What's in the box?
1 unit Djembe 6 inch
Dimensions (in): 6 x 6 x 10.6
Dimensions (cm): 15.24 x 15.24 x 26.92
Weight: 200g
A goblet-shaped hand drum played with bare hands without the need for sticks or mallets. Play it by holding between the knees or on the lap. Striking the centre produces a deep bass tone; striking near the edge gives a mid tone; a flat-fingered slap at the edge produces a bright crack.
Is the Gappu Djembe 6" designed for children only? Can adults play it?
The 6" size is designed for beginners and children. Adults can practice and play casually on it, but a
serious adult player developing djembe technique will eventually want a 10" or 12" drum for fuller bass response. As a first drum or travel instrument it is the right size.
Do I need prior experience to start?
No. The djembe is one of the most accessible percussion instruments for beginners precisely because it requires no sticks, no mallets, and no reading of notation. Children, adults, and complete beginners all find the djembe an intuitive starting point for hand percussion.
Is it suitable for classroom and group use?
Yes. Zero-setup, durable construction, and immediate playability make it well-suited for school music programmes and group rhythm sessions. Multiple units can be used simultaneously.
Does the Gappu Djembe produce a real, authentic djembe sound at this size?
Yes, within the natural acoustic limits of the smaller body. The goblet-shaped ABS construction and drum head deliver genuine djembe tonal character that a flat-headed bongo or toy drum cannot replicate. A 6" djembe produces less bass depth than a full-size instrument simply because bass response is a function of body volume, but the playing technique and tonal character are authentic.
